Privacy Policy

The club is incorporated in the ACT under the Associations Incorporation Act 1991. The Act imposes certain reporting conditions on the club to provide annual returns to the ACT Office of Regulatory Services (ACT government). The club also operates within the Australian Privacy Principles.

The regulations under the Associations Incorporation Act require the club to maintain a register of members with the following:

(a) the name of the incorporated association;
(b) the name and address of each member of the association;
(c) the date each member became a member of the association;
(d) the date (if any) each member ceased to be a member of the association.

To manage the club and the club membership we need to collect certain information from members.

We ask members to tell us their preferred contact phone number(s) and email address, and the type of vehicle they own (eg Toyota Landcruiser 200-Series Wagon, white). This information helps us in managing club activities, especially trips.

Trip leaders regularly use email for sending information about a trip that the member has booked for, and may also need to contact a member by phone at short notice. Your email address may also be provided to other trip participants.

Trip leaders will also need to know the details of the member’s vehicle in assessing if a member should be allowed to join a trip.

Members can opt out of any bulk email (general email communications to members).

Members can advise a phone number for contact via SMS.

Members may log into the club’s website and use the “Members > Edit my profile” function to check and make corrections to their personal information on the register of members.

The club will collect information about members’ activities with the club; what events and trips, including training courses, the member has attended. This information will be made available to the leader of a trip that a member has applied to join, to help the trip leader to assess the member’s experience and preparedness.

The club respects members’ privacy. We will never knowingly allow third-party access to the membership information. We will do our best to communicate with you by the channels you prefer. We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information is kept private.

This website does not collect or track any personally identifiable information about the user. The website does use a session cookie as a login token, to maintain the user login as you move around the website.

Membership

The club provides two levels of membership

full member           family member

To be a Full Member you must own a suitable four wheel drive vehicle and hold a driver's licence. Basic Driver Training is provided only to the Full Members. Partners and family members of the Full Member are categorised as Family Members and may undertake Basic Driver training by becoming full members but pay only the annual membership fee component (not the joining fee) and may revert to family membership after 12 months. Details of all membership entitlements are provided at Section 3 (1) of the club by-laws.
