Safe One Basic Driver Training Course

Safe One Basic Driver Training Course

THIS COURSE IS FULL. Due to individual concerns of the Driver Training Unit (DTU), a consensus has been reached that, as volunteer instructors, the DTU is unwilling to risk instructors’ health by being in close proximity to unvaccinated students in the training room or in vehicles. The DTU is therefore unable to offer training to anyone who has not been double vaccinated.

Priority will be given to nominees from the cancelled September 2021 course first, then from the cancelled October 2021 course.

The course is in three parts:
Vehicle Inspection – The vehicle inspection ensures you and your vehicle are ready to undertake the course. These inspections are undertaken three weeks before the course on 27 January 2022. Please nominate separately on the website for this part of the course.

Pre-Night – The Pre-night is held in Canberra on the Wednesday evening a fortnight before the training weekend, 9 February 2022, commencing at 19:00 (7pm). Details of the venue will be forwarded to participants via email as this may be subject to change. Attendance at this theory session is mandatory prior to attending the driving component.

Weekend Course – This is the main driving course consisting of theory and practical driving sessions.

What to Bring for the weekend: 1: Yourself & family and a 4WD in good mechanical condition 2: Camping gear for 2 nights stay 3: Food (including happy hour stuff) and clothing for 2 days. 4: Chairs to sit on around the fire 5: Recovery gear, as per hand out given at vehicle inspection or pre-meeting 6: Garbage bags for all your rubbish to take home 7: Notebook & pen 8: Camera 9: Full tank of fuel 10: Torch 11: Drinking water 12 Your vehicle’s manual (if you have it). There is a large First Aid Kit at Talooge and a gas BBQ.

For more specific details about the course including participant instructions please contact education@st4wdc.com.au, or Bron (Education Coordinator) at club meetings. To book on this training event please nominate on the website.
