Mungo National Park
This is a trip to explore the World Heritage site, Mungo National Park. We will leave Canberra on the Friday and travel to Mamanga Campground (664km) on the Murrumbidgee River just outside of Balranald. The Saturday we will then travel to Mungo National Park and start the Mungo track self drive tour of the park. We will make camp at the Belah camp ground approximately half way round the track. The Sunday we will then complete the track and head back to Mamanga Campground for the night before heading back to Canberra on the Monday. Time permitting we may also detour via Yanga National Park as well. This is an easy 4WD trip, however the Mungo National Park is quite remote with limited phone reception and the roads can be in poor condition. It is therefore important to have good tyres, a well maintained vehicle and to be able to carry sufficient food and water. There are non-flush toilets at all the campsites and shower facilities as the Mungo National Park Visitor Centre. Cost of entry to the National Park is $8/day and can be paid at the visitor centre.
