EOI “The Cape Adventure – 2022”

EOI “The Cape Adventure – 2022”

This year I am embarking on an adventure with my Son to support his development and appreciation of our wonderful country by taking him from the comfort of Canberra to the top of the country. To make this a more memorable adventure and one that brings about the best kinds of opportunity for development, young and old alike, I am seeking to garner expressions of interest from like minded people who are seeking an adventure of their own.

I am proposing to lead the trip, however I am seeking a Technical Lead who would be willing to provide their expertise towards the leadership of any technical elements of The Adventure.

Broad Concept:
I am intending on The Cape Adventure commencing Sunday 10 July 2022 from the vicinity of Cairns.
The likely trip route is to travel the CREB and OTT tracks as we progress north towards the Tip. The goal is to encounter the full heritage and culture of far north Queensland as well as to tackle some of the best known offroad destinations of Australia. On the return loop there are a couple of options under consideration, with the Frenchman’s track a possibility or alternatively a side adventure to Weipa for a view of the industrial nature of the Cape and possibly some Fishing in the gulf region.

The Adventure is planned to be 17 Days from Cairns to Cairns via the Tip of Cape York. The goal would be to spend a maximum of 12 Driving days in the period to enable 5 or more days to be spent in static locations to take the time to enjoy the surrounds or take side trips as desired. The final balance will be based on any feedback from the group.
The conclusion of The Adventure (for my part) is planned to be 25-26 July from the vicinity of Cairns. The return trip to Canberra will commence, with a view to arriving in Canberra 29-30 July.

Where to next:
Once there is a minimum viable group I will shift into a detailed planning phase to produce the:
Detailed Schedule and daily running sheets.
Detailed equipment lists
Risk Assessments and subsequent mitigation plans as required.
Proposed resupply locations and other locations of interest.
