Chill Out with the Goats
Why not come and spend Easter at our Goat Farm at Culcairn – an easy 3 ½ hours down the Hume Highway from Canberra.
Bring your caravan, your camper or just your swag. We do have some powered ‘sites’ available – first in best dressed. There’s a bit of grass for tents and we can find you an undercover area for your swag or a secluded spot if that is what you want. Come for as long or as little time as you have – we’re flexible.
Our original brick ‘dunny’ has a flushing toilet so leave the shovel behind and we should have plenty of rainwater to refill your van if you need it.
We have about 200 goats and they would love some visitors to have a chat with, get a pat or be fed some oranges or similar. (They have personalities and are more like dogs than sheep.) The bucks should be in rut by then so they too would like to rub their scent on you if given a chance. Or just feed our chooks and play with Ellie our unemployable ‘working’ dog if that’s more your style.
Its intended to be a relaxing few days, just sitting back, chilling and experiencing farm life. If its hot (and it will be) sit by the pool of a day and of course sit round the mandatory fire at night where you can cook with our red gum firewood. If fire conditions permit, we do have a few special ST4WDC worthy stumps we’ve been saving. We have dams with carp and yabbies – so try your luck.
While you’re here we’d like you to get out and have a look around the area. Some of the nearby attractions are:
*Holbrook Submarine Museum
*Walla Walla Water Tower mural.
*The historic town of Jinderra where you can walk amongst the original restored buildings and if you’re interested a visit to the Jinderra Historical Museum it is worthwhile.
Only a few km from us is the Bushranger Mad Dog Morgan’s Lookout where he could see for miles and miles and he used to hide in ambush waiting for any stagecoaches or travelers or hide from the ‘traps’. The view from his lookout is magnificent and access to the lookout has recently been restored with safety rails and good steps and walkways.
Its Easter – we have church services if you need them.
One of our naughty goats has volunteered to put on a goat curry for you to try – we are sure you will enjoy it.
If there’s interest we might have a few 4WD farm games like fastest to open and shut a farm gate and if you are good at that we have a pair of double gates with a special gate latch that will test you. We have lots of Hares on our farm so maybe the Easter Bunny might come and we can have an Easter Egg Hunt?
