Bendethera Bender
Bendethera is the site of an old homestead situated on the Deua River in the Deua NP. Extensive grassy flats provide plenty of open camping space easily accommodating large groups. For 4WD access bush camping, Bendethera is hands down the best in NSW.
Due to the ongoing closure of Middle Mountain Rd, we will need to come in from the east via Moruya. The meeting location is at the RV dump point on Shore St Moruya opposite the bowling club at 9:30am. Canberra to Moruya is 2-2.5 hours and Moruya to Bendethera is about 2 hours. Camper trailers are permitted via this route.
Bookings should be made well in advance via NSW NPWS website https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/camping-and-accommodation/campgrounds/bendethera-valley-campground Cost is $6 per car/booking.
The focus of this trip is primarily an overnight camp with the only 4WDing being the route in/out and exploration of the valley. Note that Bendethera has been subject to frequent closure at short notice in recent times due to flooding. In the event of a closure the trip will be rescheduled.
