Balloon Spectacular
Activity Description:
Once more we have been asked to provide support crews at the Balloon Spectacular which starts on Saturday of the Canberra Day long weekend. We have been doing this for many years and our participation makes the event the success it is. Volunteers will: help pilots set up balloons with crowd control sometimes necessary, follow or chase your balloon so that you arrive in time to help the pilot land safely, deflate, pack up and drive rig back to the lawns at Old Parliament House, refilling gas bottles on the way. There will be a complimentary hearty breakfast and time to socialize afterwards. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with old friends and make new ones. It’s also highly likely that you will be able to take in the sights of Canberra from the air. There will be two special shapes; one is piloted by Benoit Lambert, Darth Vader’s pilot, the second is a new pilot. You don’t have to come every day. Let me know which days you can come whether you can tow a 4×8 trailer and if you have a preference for a pilot. Training is on the job with your friendly pilot. Pilot registration opened in late October so details of pilots attending are currently unavailable. Email Catherine or volunteer at a club meeting.
