More historic ACT Huts and Sites
Activity Description:
** NOTE – due to the very high forecast temperatures, this trip is deferred. The Yaouk Explorer part of yesterday’s plan will go ahead as an 8.30am start Sunday 21 Jan from Namadgi Visitor Centre. ** Today is a day of walking to explore the history in the vicinity of Demandering and Horse Gully Huts. See the info sheet at http://www.environment.act.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0006/404592/Naas-Valley-to-Horse-Gully-Hut.pdf The day is an extension option for those who took part in yesterday’s “The Settlers Track and Yaouk Explorer†trip and camped overnight at Mt Clear Campground, or anyone wishing to have a relaxed day walking, talking and exploring. A good chance for new members to meet others. Be ready to head out at 10am from the campground. Bring appropriate clothing for the possible weather options, plus carry morning tea, lunch, sunscreen etc. On the way home, time and interest permitting, we’ll have a look at Orroral Homestead and the former Orrorol and Honeysuckle Tracking Station sites. A good opportunity to see where the pictures and audio of Neil Armstrong’s first walk on the moon were received back on earth (not Parkes as popularised in The Dish movie)!
