Chainsaw Awareness

An instructor lead course providing guidance on chainsaw safety, basic cutting techniques, and chainsaw maintenance, including cleaning and sharpening.

This course DOES NOT include or cover felling of trees.

This course is run on an ‘on-demand’ basis and when suitably experienced or qualified instructors are available.

Class room training:

  • Creating and maintaining a safe workspace
  • Chainsaw safety
  • Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
  • Chainsaw components
  • Maintenance, cleaning and sharpening of a chainsaw

Practical training:

  • Assessing the work-site and timber to be cut
  • Cutting fallen timber
  • Compression and Tension cuts
  • Plunge cuts
  • Controlling the chainsaw and preventing ‘kick-back’
  • Practical maintenance and cleaning of the chainsaw
To attend this course you must:
  • be a current/financial club member
  • have a chainsaw in safe working order
  • have required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
