The club's monthly meeting are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:30pm at the Deakin Football Club. The club's AGM is held during the October meeting.

Sheepyards Opal Fields Lightning Ridge

Sheepyards Opal Fields Lightning Ridge

Lightning Ridge easter festival and sheepyards opal fields . Camping at the sheepyards opal fields approx 80kms west of Lightning ridge visiting surrounding Lightning Ridge and areas.

Meeting place will be at dubbo on good friday leaving at 9.00am to travel to the sheepyards opal fields approx 4 1/2 hrs travel time where we’ll set up and visit the local hilton pub that has a food van

Leaving at 9.00am Saturday will be a day trip into Lightning Ridge (approx 1 hrs travel ) seeing the sights either visiting walk in opal mines x2 bore baths the black hand opal mine art gallery opal stores or the easter festival activities returning approx 4pm for happy hour and then visit the sheepyards pub (walking distance) supplies and fuel can be sourced in the Ridge

Sunday you could either go back to Lightning Ridge or a look around the sheepyards or grawin opal fields. Sunday afternoon at 2.00pm will be at the Club in the scrub for there annual yabby races .

There is a food van for those who would rather eat out or we could do a group night out and there are 3 different pubs with different things going on . A couple of chainsaws would be handy to grab some firewood so we can sit around the fire of a night time

I have put the end of the trip on easter Monday but I’ll be staying for a few more days so you can leave when you like .

Approx 20kms of varying dirt road to the sheepyards but normally pretty good road .
Available for campers caravans and tents

Membership

The club provides two levels of membership

full member           family member

To be a Full Member you must own a suitable four wheel drive vehicle and hold a driver's licence. Basic Driver Training is provided only to the Full Members. Partners and family members of the Full Member are categorised as Family Members and may undertake Basic Driver training by becoming full members but pay only the annual membership fee component (not the joining fee) and may revert to family membership after 12 months. Details of all membership entitlements are provided at Section 3 (1) of the club by-laws.
