Activity Description:
This is a hands on OziExplorer Navigation Exercise. We will depart Willamsdale at 0830 and proceed to Talooge Park. We will then devote Saturday morning, understanding trip planning and using OziExplorer, and create a route to drive selected tracks on the Talooge property. Students will then drive their proposed Talooge route plan and return to the class room for a debrief. Students will then independently plan another Talooge route actively drive this route and return to the classroom for a debrief. Sunday morning students will plan a route to Tallaganda National Park and an exit of the Nat Park with aim of getting back to Canberra by 17:00. Students will then pack up and proceed to action their proposed route to Tallaganda Nat Park. You must have a GPS using OziExplorer and the ability to transfer information from a Laptop to a GPS unit. If you have a laptop please bring it along. This is an exercise to enhance user’s skills in using OziExplorer for trip planning. Please note this is not a basic introduction to OziExplorer but slightly more advanced. Note 1: If you have other navigational devices ring me to discuss. Note 2: Students must have completed basic driver training as students will be driving in a grade 3 environment Note 3: Partners are welcome to attend the training but they cannot drive the proposed routes unless they have completed basic driver training Note 4: Specialist instructors are Michael Patrick, Chris Nicholls and Alex Zabo
