Huts of the Victorian High Country 2016
Activity Description:
This trip is open to all members who have completed driver training. Definite line picking will be required. The trip will encompass the huts located in the Mount Buller, Mansfield area and then descend from the heights to Wonnangatta valley, Dargo, Haunted Stream and Omeo and home. We will encounter steep mountain trails and long deep descents into valleys. There will be quite a few water crossings at varying depths (blinds may be required). The mountain environment can change at any time so be prepared for hot and possibly cold extreme conditions. Camping will be at different sites. Long drops are available at all camp sites but not showers. (Please note this trip will vary due to what conditions might be encountered at the time. (ie Bushfires, Snow, Rain high winds) Requirements: Standard lift and a minimum of all terrain tyres (tyres must be in good condition), Vehicles must be in good condition and not have a history of breakdowns, You must be able to carry a minimum of 120 litres of fuel (can top up at Mansfield and Dargo), Food supplies for 7 days. Food can be obtained at Dargo but is limited and packaged, We will be bush camping with long drops available at camp sites, basic recovery gear, UHF radio, camping gear including gas stove (possible fire restrictions could be inforce), Blind for water crossings The full trip itinerary will be posted at a later date. Note: No camper trailers
