Intention is for participants to make their own way up Friday/Friday evening and camp at the Glendora Campground for 3 nights. Participants are responsible for making their own bookings. This trip is suitable for caravans, camper trailers, tents, whatever……
Saturday or Sunday we will drive the historic Bridle Track alongside the Turon and Macquarie rivers towards Bathurst, returning to Hill End mid afternoon, allowing time to explore Hill End and some of the lookouts. On the other day there will be an optional Grade 3 trip from Hill End to Sofala, Turon Gates, Turon Diggings, Turon State Forest, Wattle Flats and back via Sofala. Participants wishing to come on this trip must have completed Basic Driver Training. Alternatively, they can turn back at Turon Diggings and head back to Hill End along the same route.
If there is sufficient interest we will have a group dinner at the Hill End pub on one of the nights.
Participants can then return to Canberra on the Monday.
Fuel is (normally) available at the Hill End General Store, Sofala (? used to be) or Wattle Flat; participants need to check opening hours/availability and have enough to do at least 150km driving around Hill End before heading home…… Bathurst is the main fuel stop.
