Canberra Balloon Spectacular
The Balloon Spectacular is an ACT annual event. It is one of the many events celebrating Canberra’s birthday and is a major component of Enlighten. It commences on Saturday of the Canberra Day long weekend and goes until the end of the following weekend. 7am start and about 10.30 finish. Venue Patrick White Lawns between the National Library and the lake. Once more we have been asked to provide support crews to local, interstate and overseas pilots. We have been doing this for many years and our participation makes the event the success it is. Volunteers help pilots set up balloons (with crowd control sometimes necessary) follow or chase your balloon so that you arrive in time to help the pilot land safely, deflate, pack up and drive back to Patrick White lawns There is a complimentary hearty breakfast and time to socialize afterwards. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with old friends and make new ones. Its also highly likely that you will be able to take in the sights of Canberra from the air as your pilot will endeavour to take up all crew over the 9 days weather permitting. You don’t have to volunteer every day. Let me know which days you can come, whether you can tow a 4×8 trailer and if you have a preference for a pilot or balloon shape. Training is on the job with your friendly pilot.
