Camper Trailors and Caravans welcome The mystery of Mystery Bay Mystery Bay was called Mutton Fish Bay because of its plentiful abalone (mutton fish). It became known as Mystery Bay after that fateful day and the mysterious disappearance of NSW Mines Department geological surveyor Lamont Young and his four companions. Mystery Bay campground fronts the ocean and is one of the few natural camping areas remaining on NSW’s south coast. It is only a short distance off the Princes Highway, but could be a million miles from anywhere. The area is quite large with generous camp sites scattered throughout the native bush of mainly spotted gums, with acacias and banksias closer to the spectacular cliff headlands and small beaches. There are cold showers, water taps and pit toilets. All sites are unpowered, plenty of room for a boat, caravan or camper. FEES & BOOKINGS Peak season rates are $17.50/adult/night. $5/child/night (5-16) Off Peak season rates are $12/adult/night. $4/child/night (5-16) Off Peak Weekly rate of $70/adult Off Peak Pensioner Rate of $9.50/person/night or $58/person for a week Bookings are not taken and when the campground is full the sign is displayed at the entrance on Mystery Bay Road. This usually only occurs at the Christmas New Year Holidays.
