We are headed for Cairns to join the ST4WDC Cape York trip. We live in Meningie SA, so will be headed north up the Birdsville Track, then to Lawn Hill, Burketown and Cairns. Timings are to be determined, but departure will be about 25July, taking a leisurely pace, aiming to arrive in Cairns area about 11 August. Anyone interested can join us at a location of their choosing, eg Flinders Ranges, Marree, and depart whenever it suits. This trip will suit: – those going on the Cape York trip and have the additional time; or – someone with limited time that would like to travel the Birdsville Track in company, spend some time in Birdsville, have a play on Big Red, and return; or – perhaps venture further, with opportunities to explore central Queensland on your way home. The road and track conditions vary according to when they were last graded, traffic and weather. Serious corrugations and bulldust are to be expected. We will be towing an off-road caravan and similar rigs are welcome. If interested, please nominate and we can discuss arrangements further.
