Description

Travel from Curtin Springs to Yulara then via Great Central Road to Warakurna WA, camp overnight, travel to the Corner and return to Warakurna that night. Visit Giles weather station one morning. We will then head east again back towards Finke and Old Andado. Trip subject to getting travel and access permits to the Corner from the Traditional owners. A fee of $100 per vehicle (cash) is payable on the day of visit. Route home will be via Lambert Centre ( Central most point of Australia), Old Andado. We have a few days R&R at Old Andado before heading to either MT Dare or Dalhousie Springs to meet up with other Club members doing the Simpson Desert trip crossing to Birdsville. Our group will act like a second convoy to the other group, possibly taking an alternate route but will meet up a couple of nights prior to getting to Birdsville. From Birdsville you can make your own way back home or continue on your own journey. An SA Desert Parks Pass ($204) will be required to access Dalhousie Springs and the Simpson Desert National park. Curtin Springs NT is about a 4-5 day drive from Canberra. Vehicles will require additional spare tyres, shocks, coils and springs as well as spare fuel filters. Fuel will be available at Finke or Mt Dare prior to heading across the desert. It is approx. 550km across to Birdsville providing we don’t need to use the Eyre Creek bypass which will add another 60km Travel across the Simpson will probably be 4 – 5 days from Dalhousie Springs to Birdsville
