The 2026 Canberra Balloon Spectacular is scheduled 14-22 March. We need about 30 volunteers to work will pilots who need crew. If you have never done this before, don’t worry, you will be teamed up with experienced team members. Learning is on the job and you will find that pilots are very patient and appreciative of your help. Usually you will be offered a free flight but this cannot be guaranteed. There is a free breakfast when you return to the launch field.
The job entails helping with set up, some crowd control and chatting with excited spectators, chasing the balloon and helping with the pack up. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience the joys of hot air ballooning, you will make new friends and maybe discover a new hobby or passion.
NB. You do not have to volunteer for the entire event. I suggest a minimum of 2 days in a block; day 1 learning, day 2 enjoying. If you need to change your mind for whatever reason that’s OK.
If you would like to volunteer please register online but also send me an email. Do not hesitate to ring me with any questions.
